Our 31st Annual Conference on Teaching Mathematics is scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2016, in the Hancock Conference Center at John A Logan College in Carterville (a 15 minute drive from Carbondale). It is sponsored by the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics [ICTM], John A. Logan College and several affiliates.

This annual program will feature speakers, many of whom are classroom teachers, in sessions that deal with the Common Core in Mathematics - content, teaching and assessing, including formative and summative assessment; problem solving; technology - calculators and iPads; connections between mathematics and science, music and literacy; proportional reasoning; writing and evaluating standards; teaching young children mathematics; STEM; cooperative learning; content vocabulary; and other topics of interest to teachers at all levels PreK through 14. Teachers will receive professional development credits as in the past.

The keynote speaker will be Mr. Al Otto, Professor Emeritus from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

Also speaking on this year’s program are George Reese, ICTM President and Dr. Bob Mann, ICTM Past-President. Dr. Mann’s presentation title is EZ Tangrams.
