SIU 33rd Annual Conference on Teaching Mathematics

The 2018 SIU conference will be held in the Hancock Conference Center on the John A Logan College campus, a 10 minute drive from SIU Carbondale. Find detailed information and registration options at http://conferenceservices.siu.edu/conferences/teaching-mathematics.php

A range of workshops and talks on mathematics teaching will make up the program for teachers at the pre-school, primary, intermediate, middle school and high school levels. Most speakers are classroom teachers with a host of teaching ideas, practices and materials.

The main speaker will be Dr. Akihiko Takahashi, a world leader in Lesson Study from DePaul University. He will be giving the main conference presentation at the Luncheon: "A way to make a school as a place for joyful learning for both students and teachers." The talk will be concerned with Quality Lesson Study in mathematics using the ideas of Collaborative Lesson Research (CLR) and teaching math through problem solving.
